The Fresno County Superintendents of Schools hope to support a major increase in dual enrollment community college courses in their high schools. They believe that attaining a Bachelor’s degree is a significant challenge for many students within the Fresno County student demographics, including students in poverty, first-generation college-goers, and English learners. By creating and supporting a dual enrollment program, the Fresno County Superintendents of Schools hope to help motivate students to complete an Associate’s degree and move on to a University that will lead them toward a competitive career.
This project is to develop a partnership to provide streamlined programs for high school faculty to earn their master’s degree in the two high need disciplines of English and math. This will allow more dual enrollment coursework and thus more resources for students to succeed early. The project will support 40 high school teachers to attain their Masters in English and 30 high school teachers to attain their Masters in Mathematics.
